Details Released On Upcoming ‘CBGB’ Soundtrack

The upcoming CBGB biopic is receiving a lot of attention from the music world, and for a good reason: If it weren’t for the famous NYC venue’s existence, punk music and alternative music as we know it wouldn’t be in the state that it is in. The film is centered around Hilly Kristal, the club owner portrayed by Alan Rickman who helped start it all back in the 70s back when the venue was open for bluegrass and country only and later expanded to include rock & roll, punk, and hardcore.

Details on the motion picture’s soundtrack have hit the net today, and things are looking great. Should it come as a surprise that the album will be pressed on 2xLP and CD? Spanning 20 tracks, the songs on the album will include some of the biggest names in rock & roll such as Talking Heads, The Velvet Underground, and The Police, along with a song by Kristal himself. The record will be sold on October 8, three days before CBGB‘s debut at the 2013 CBGB festival in New York City, with a national major market distribution following shortly after.
