Kellin Quinn Responds To $80 Polaroid Controversy

Aw man, and we were THIS CLOSE to finishing our list of ‘5 better ways to spend $80 than taking a photo with Kellin Quinn’ article. Oh well…

Sleeping With Sirens announced a new tour in the last twenty-four hours, but the story everyone has been talking about has almost nothing to do with live music whatsoever.

Rise Records and SWS frontman Kellin Quinn have spent the day being the butt of a million social media jokes after word got out about a special “tour package” that promised fans a polaroid with Quinn (in addition to other materials) for $80. People called the move everything from shameless to an outright act of taking advantage of young fans, and now after hours of debate Kellin himself has come forward with a response.

Taking to Twitter via TwitLonger, Quinn wrote:

My response

I feel like this is an amazing deal for 80 dollars if you disagree then don’t buy it, no one is forcing you k?

“Autographed Polaroid photo with Kellin
Group Q&A session with Kellin
Signing Session With Sleeping With Sirens
Large Double-Sided Autographed Poster
Early Entry Into The “Feel This” Tour
General admission ticket to the “Feel This” tour”

keep in mind Polaroid film is super expensive, your getting the ticket to the show, you get front row over anyone else.. If you only want to pay general admission then just do that. However, if you do like the idea of doing all these things included.. It’s ONLY 80 dollars.. I would never charge someone money for just a picture with me.. I try and do anything and everything for my fans.. I do in fact have a family, and that family needs to be fed.. So thanks for supporting us and helping me continue to tour.. Without you there is no us! Love you Kellin

This clarity should come as a relief to some, but I have a feeling the internet will rage on regardless. Comment below and let us know your thoughts.

Honestly, this is a fucking good deal seeing as some other artists would probably charge over $300 for all of the things that Kellin is offering. Besides, as Kellin said, you don’t have to get it. Jeez.

  2. Connor says:

Call me ignorant but Sleeping with Sirens is one of those bands that a lot of dudes say they like so they can start a conversation with a (usually underage) girl & try to get laid.

  3. Connor says:

Copeland: Dad take a photo with me!
    Kellin: Do you have $80?

  4. kelseykarnage says:

Totally disagree with all the hate on Kellin Quinn, I mean people are acting as though he’s charging $80 for a polaroid, which isn’t true. I mean you’d pay like $40? for a ticket to the show alone.. and then there’s early entry, which in most fanbases (like the Hustler club) you have to pay $15 a year to even be considered, and then you’ve got a Signing session AND a Q&A, I honestly don’t think it’s bad for the price and I think a lot of people probably wouldn’t have been that bothered about it if Oliver Sykes hadn’t mentioned it.

  5. Jarrett Lewis says:

    $40 for a show ticket???????????

    lolwut.

I just came back from a show with 10 bands on the roster and that was $40.

Silly teenscene bands, taking advantage of young scene babies.

  6. Candace BoBandace says:

It’s the ego behind the statement, not the amount of money.

  7. Jamie Keith says:

Credit where credit is due i say, all this for only $80 and its a good way to make money in a world where money gets you everything, its wrong the world is this way but it is. And so Kellin is giving people the enjoyment that life should be about and helping his family. The people paying this money are probably 14 year old fan girls not adults with children like him, money is dead and wasted to them but for him it helps the ones he loves, Good on you Kellin, wish i had the opportunity to do this, or have the option to buy this package when i come see you in Manchester.

  8. Faith says:

My cousin just payed 900$ to be front row at a one direction concert . No meet & greet no picture no signing. I think its amazing

  9. Andrew says:

Props to all the people saying “this isn’t so bad…Justin Bieber and One Direction charge way more for this.” That SWS is being compared with them in the first place is the problem. It’s the antithesis of the scene and it’s embarrassing.

  10. Josh Hayes says:

Sleeping with Sirens Kicks-ass idek why all of these people are getting upset. you don’t HAVE to buy it.

  11. Daisy (ULR) says:

$25 was charged for tickets to The All Stars Tour in Santa Ana last weekend. That was approximately 15 bands or so playing altogether on 2 stages. So idk about this $40 thing. I pay big money for tickets to see a band I really want to see. Nobody forces me. So I do get the aspect of “whoever is buying it wants to” but I do feel like most of those people are just taking money from their parents and not buying on their own.

  13. Jarrett Lewis says:

I should say that it was $40 after extra fees and taxes and such. The ticket itself was like $25

  14. Guest says:

    but…. they suck..

  15. Ruben Loredo says:

    lol riiight?

  16. Ruben Loredo says:

Most shows that i have been to like Rob Zombie, MM, Slipknot, etc they come down and take photos and sign anything you ask them to because they love their fanbase. All the money spent towards the band would be repaid because its the loyalty that makes them so famous, The early ticket to the next show and first entry thing is a sweet deal also. better than pushing through a bunch of crazy teeny fans clawing to get front row XD

  17. Beardman12 says:

For what they’re offering, 80 dollars is still too much money, especially considering their fanbase of teenagers and little girls. If you really love them that much, do it for free. I doubt he’s impoverished. Also note that the attention is all on him, rather than his bandmates (who most of his fans could only identify via Wikipedia).

  18. kayla perry says:

i feel that is an amazing deal! people get over yourself he didnt do anything wrong!

  19. Guest says:

if you’re in his shoes, you would do the same… he’s a father and he needs to feed his baby.. just shut ur ass!!

  20. Beardman12 says:

Their most recent album debuted at number 3 on the Billboard charts. I doubt that baby is starving, unlike the children of parents who can’t charge 80 dollars for a freakin polaroid.

  21. marie says:

like KQ said u dont have to buy it but everyone out there should know how he feels we all have to food on the table for our families and even though you might not think its that hard for him! it is its hard for everyone really not everyone has it easy thats a realllllyyyy good deal in my opinion. KQ does alot for his family and his friends and fans. he’s always here for us when we need him most and for those who are fans like i AM keep standing beside him and siding with him and being there for him because you knowhe’d do the same for us……some people just say things they dont know anything about everyone has trolubles even famous rockstars like kellin quinn:) kellin i love youuuuuu ssooo much keep singing and dont ever let what these people are saying effect what you do for the millions of people that listen to your music all around the world thanx

  22. Shawna says:

You’re saying “for a Polaroid”. Clearly you aren’t understanding the big picture. You get a picture, plus a q&a, plus a signing, plus a big poster, plus a ticket and early admission to their concert. Forget the baby or the family comment. You’re getting a lot of things for 80$ that you’d be lucky to get any other time. He’s not just charging for the picture.

  23. Beardman12 says:

    It’s still a ripoff.
I paid less money for a good seat at Mayhem Fest to see a whole bunch of bands (several of them much larger bands that SWS). The chance to meet the bands, the autographs, and the posters were free.
