Drake Debuts “Hold On We’re Going Home”

In the words of Monty Python, “…And now for something completely different.”

While the blogosphere spent the late night and most of this morning discussing all that happened during OVO Fest in Toronto, Drake realized the opportunity to maximize his current exposure and released a brand new single for the world to enjoy. We have it here on UTG for you to enjoy, but before we get there I feel it’s necessary to prepare you for what lies ahead.

Last week, Drake dropped the star-studded single “All Me” and quickly received global praise for his efforts. The track, which featured contributions from Big Sean and 2 Chainz, became an overnight sensation and is still tracking strong throughout the net. Today’s single, “Hold On We’re Going Home,” could not be more of a departure from that track, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The song tosses the idea of Drake being a hip hop star to the wind and chooses to focus instead on his vocal abilities, which is something we did not hear much from on Take Care, and the resulting track is all but screaming for attention from pop radio. It’s a little bit 80s and heavy on the romance, but still just as chill as anything you would expect to surface from camp Drizzy. You can stream a radio rip of the single below.

Both “All Me” and “Hold On We’re Going Home” are expected to appear on Drake’s forthcoming album, Nothing Was The Same, which is scheduled for release September 17. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on Drake’s new material.
