New Romance Movie From Spike Jonze, Arcade Fire to Score

Film hardhitter Spike Jonze will be putting out a new romance movie on November 20 called Her and it looks–surprise–incredible. The movie follows a lonely man as he begins to fall in love with a computer operating system designed to grant the user’s commands. It’s been four years since Jonze’s last feature film, Where the Wild Things Are, and it’s looking like it was worth the wait. Watch the trailer after the jump to see for yourself.

“It’s a movie set in the slight future of L.A,” said Jonze when discussing Her. “Joaquin Phoenix’s character buys the world’s first artificially intelligent operating system… it basically turns into a human, this entity, this consciousness, on his computer.”

Her stars Joaquin Phoenix as Theodore, Amy Adams as his ex-wife, and Scarlett Johansson as Samantha, the computer’s voice (so what that means is no, he isn’t crazy; anyone would fall in love with her voice). Other stars listed to appear are Rooney Mara, Oliva Wilde, and Chris Pratt.

Not only will the film itself be an emotional tug-of-war, but Arcade Fire are set to score the movie to ramp up those good ol’ feelings. This will be a bit of a follow-up to their new album, which is supposedly going to come out before the movie’s release on November 20. When beautiful pictures are set to beautiful music, tears will fall (even if they’re happy tears). There’s no audio out yet to hear from it, but go ahead and watch the trailer below.
