DMX To Play Himself In Upcoming Chris Rock Movie

DMX may not have the platinum-selling career in rap he once had, but that does not mean he is incapable of landing high profile gigs.

According to a new story on AllHipHop, DMX has joined the cast of Chris Rock’s upcoming, currently untitled new comedy. X will appear as himself, and according to a press release will meet the famous funnyman during a sequence that takes place in prison. You can read an excerpt from the release below:

“The scene is comedic which allowed X to show off his versatility as an actor. X and Rock played well off each other and Rock’s character even gets DMX to lead the inmates in a song. There are more acting roles to come and DMX is also planning on attending the Sundance Film Festival in January.”

As far as we know, DMX and Chris Rock have never appeared together on screen, but Rock did use the DMX hit “Ruff Ryders Anthem” in his 2001 film Down To Earth. You can view a clip, which may confuse some out of context, below.

Considering the fact Chris Rock’s new film has no title it should come as no surprise that no release date has been set yet either. The Sundance mention in the press release leads us to believe it may aim for a January debut, but we’ll wait for more information before jumping to further conclusions. As long as it’s as good as Exit Wounds we’ll be happy. Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
