Hipsters, your day is about to be made.

Phoenix have been shaking up the indie community for a number of years, but this afternoon their fame made a move for superstardom with the release of the official remix for their hit single, “Trying To Be Cool.”

Pairing the indie hitmakers with none other than R. Kelly, the remix for “Trying To Be Cool” feels like a funkier take on Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience. The music makes you want to groove, but in a way that brings to mind the dance floor montages of films set in the 70s, and the new contribution from Kelly helps push things into a realm of pop radio stations coast to coast will flock to. It’s not “Remix to Ignition,” but it’s certainly the most fun we have had all day. You can stream the remix to “Trying To Be Cool” below.

We’re not sure whether or not this remix will spawn a new trend of indie bands hooking up with urban talent, but we wouldn’t mind if it did. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on this remix.
