Mark Wahlberg Wants To Be Iron Man (And We’re Pretty Okay With It)

Dirk Diggler wants to be Tony Stark.

One of the keys to success in life is always having a goal to work towards, and for Mark Wahlberg one of those goals happens to be playing the role of Iron Man. Speaking with Yahoo! Movies recently, the Pain & Gain star who is currently filming Transformers 4 was asked if he wanted to play in comic book characters on the big screen. Wahlberg replied, “I would like to take over the ‘Iron Man’ franchise for Robert Downey, [but] it’s one of those things where I kind of like playing real people, [so] I’ve never been asked.”

As far as we know, Robert Downey Jr. has no plans to leave behind the metal suit (and tens of millions he earns each time he puts it on), but the idea of Wahlberg as Tony Stark is an alluring one.

During the same interview with Yahoo! Wahlberg also revealed he was approached for the role of Robin, presumably for 1997’s Batman & Robin, but the offer never came together. Wahlberg doesn’t mind however, adding “Somebody dodged a bullet!”

Could you see Mark Wahlberg as Iron Man, or any of the heroes from the world of comic books? Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
