UTG TV: Smash Mouth Go Under The Sun With Under The Gun

Smash Mouth have been a band for nearly 20 years. That’s right, feel old, 90s babies. The group that you grew up hearing on the radio, in movies, and at chaperoned dances is nearly as old as you are. Yet, in the summer of 2013, the Under The Sun Tour put up some competition with the changing of times, as Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, Gin Blossoms, Vertical Horizon, and Fastball took to the road on a nationwide tour, packing out venues from coast to coast.

Maybe fans just wanted to get drunk and sing Sugar Ray’s “Every Morning,” or reminisce on Fastball’s “Out Of My Head” or Smash Mouth’s “All Star,” both of which can be found on Now That’s What I Call Music! VOLUME 3.

Want to feel even older? They’re now up to Now Thats What I Call Music! VOLUME 47. Looking back at the 90s, there was a bunch of awesome stuff. That includes visors, UFO pants, and some pretty damn catchy music. On the forefront of that music was Smash Mouth, who are multi-platinum recording artists. Not many bands can say that anymore.

Under The Gun TV was able to catch up with Steve Harwell, lead singer of Smash Mouth inside the band’s tour bus outside the Under The Sun Tour at The Paramount in Huntington, NY. Check below the jump for the exclusive UTG interview where the band discusses everything from collaborating with The Doors to a Smash Mouth themed cookbook.
