Daft Punk Preview “Lose Yourself to Dance” Music Video at VMAs

MTV’s 2013 Video Music Awards are turning out to be everything we’ve already predicted, but we’re all still surprised for some reason. Not only did *NSYNC briefly perform during Justin Timberlake‘s song medley to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, but Daft Punk showed up. What we weren’t expecting, however, was a preview of their “Lose Yourself to Dance” music video to air live.

The robot duo were supposed to appear on The Colbert Report and bailed, the reason being that it conflicted with MTV’s policies since they were scheduled to give a surprise appearance at the VMAs. While this was never confirmed by MTV or Daft Punk, it turns out it was true.

Daft Punk took the stage beside Nile Rodgers and Pharrell to present the award for Best Female Video (which means the legendary French duo just gave Taylor Swift an award… possibly the real unpredicted “surprise” of the evening). Before they came out, though, the music video’s preview aired onscreen. Watch the music video preview for “Lose Yourself to Dance” off Random Access Memories below:
