1 Dead, 2 In Serious Condition Following Drug Overdoses At Zedd Concert In Boston

UPDATE: Zedd has cancelled his second performance in Boston, which was scheduled to take place tonight (8/28). He wrote on Facebook “Out of respect to the families and friends involved in last night’s tragic loss, the show in Boston tonight is canceled. Love and respect to those in pain right now. Our hearts go out to you.”

Original post: News is coming in this afternoon that one person has died and two more are currently in serious condition following reports of multiple drug overdoses taking place during a concert featuring Zedd in Boston last night.

According to a report on Boston.com, police were contacted shortly after midnight this morning with the notification that a number of drug overdoses had taken place during a Zedd concert at the House Of Blues in downtown Boston. Police said an adult female was pronounced dead after being transported to Beth Israel Hospital and an adult female and an adult male were also taken to that hospital. The two survivors remain in serious condition at this time, and no additional information regarding their expected recoveries has been released.

Police are currently working to figure out exactly what drug the victims took, as well as where it came from, but at this time very few additional details about the crime are being released. It is believed that the victims did not know each other, which has lead many to believe a dealer selling narcotics at the venue is responsible for distributing the drugs. If you were in attendance or have any additional information that may help investigators, please reach out and contact Boston Police at 617-343-4470.

“As always, the safety of our guests is our top priority,” said Jay Anderson, a spokesman for the club.

“Last evening, there were guests at our venue in need of medical treatment during the performance. They were assisted by Boston EMS as well as on-site emergency medical personnel and then transported to local medical facilities. One individual has unfortunately passed away and our thoughts go out to their family and friends for their loss. This matter is under investigation and we are continuing to work with local officials,” Anderson said.

At this time Zedd has not commented on the situation. We are continuing to follow this story and will update you as soon as more information surfaces online.
