75% of Passion Pit’s Equipment Was Destroyed

Passion Pit

In a predictable but unfortunate set of events, Passion Pit have had a good chunk of their equipment damaged in a storm this past Friday night. When gearing up to play at Chicago’s North Coast Music Festival, the festival was delayed and shortly after “approximately 75% of” Passion Pit’s gear was destroyed before they went on. The band performed a DJ set instead, making for three nights in a row of DJ sets (including Calgary and Edmonton).

They explained a bit more on their website for fans:

“As a touring band that is proud to actually perform electro-pop as opposed to just pressing play, using many keyboards, both analog and digital, this is a nightmare we’ve had for quite some time. It’s almost incredible that it hasn’t happened already… And to all of our fans that were in Chicago, those disappointed that we couldn’t actually properly perform, please understand that this was completely out of our hands. We did as much as we could. We appreciate your support and understanding.”

Hopefully they’ll be ready to perform for their headlining set at the Boston Calling festival this upcoming weekend. The damaged equipment is being repaired and the group expect to have it finished to play their own material soon. With music videos to support Gossamer as well as some great remixes, it’s likely they’ll give a great performance, no matter what the weather brings.
