HOLY SH!T: Jason Statham Vs. James Franco In First ‘Homefront’ Trailer

Chev Chelios is about to battle Saul Silver. Is this real life?

Few names are as synonymous with the modern action film as Jason Statham. He’s starred almost entirely in genre features for the last decade, likely taking on more leading roles than any other action star (except maybe The Rock), but none of those efforts could have possibly prepared movie goers for the villain they’ll see him face next: James Franco.

Written by Sylvester Stallone (no joke!), Homefront is an upcoming action film about one father completely overreacting to an incident between his son and another man’s daughter on an elementary school playground. Okay, there’s a bit more to it, but it is the aforementioned schoolyard brawl that sets our events in motion. Franco plays a meth dealer in a small town where everyone knows each other. Statham moves to town to keep quiet, but following the incident at school finds himself at odds with Franco. There are a few more twists, of course, but you’ll have to watch the trailer to learn what they are.

I expected absolutely nothing going into this trailer and left feeling pretty damn entertained. Nothing shown thus far strays too far from the well-worn territory of previous action films about clashing individuals in tight-knit communities, but the power of its stars should be more than enough to sell a few million dollars in tickets.

Homefront will hit theaters stateside on November 27. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the trailer.
