You Me At Six Turn Avicii’s “Wake Me Up” Into A Country Song On BBC Radio 1

You Me At Six are the latest to join the long line of talent who has taken to BBC Radio 1 with a cover you would never expect, and the way they made it their own may shock you.

For the last few years You Me At Six have sat on the fringe of the popular pop rock band list, making fans one show and single at a time. Whether or not they’ll ever be as big stateside as we at UTG believe they deserve is debatable, but I doubt anyone will have something negative to say about the performance we’re featuring from the band this morning. Appearing in the BBC Radio 1 studio, the boys of You Me At Six unleashed a country take on Avicii’s club hit “Wake Me Up” that will be pulling at your heart strings all day long. The once fun-loving track has taken a turn for the melancholy, but it plays so well you’ll hardly think twice about the change. You can view the performance below.

You Me At Six are rumored to be prepping a new album titled Cavalier Youth for a late 2013 release. No date has been set for a stateside release, but we’ll be sure to update you as soon as more information becomes available.
