Ben Affleck Responds To Batman Casting Criticism: “I’m A Big Boy”

Well done, Jimmy Fallon. You continue to be way cooler than anyone gives you credit.

The decision to cast Ben Affleck as Batman in the upcoming sequel to Man Of Steel has been the hottest debate topic for movie and comic book nerds since its announcement a few weeks ago. Seemingly everyone with the ability to share their opinion on the matter has offered whatever string of words they could muse, but until last night no one had heard a reaction from the new Bruce Wayne.

Taking the stage on Jimmy Fallon’s late night show, Ben Affleck spoke openly for the first time about the casting process for the upcoming Man Of Steel sequel. He described being approached for the film, his hesitation, and even described the somewhat extreme lengths the studio went to in order to prepare him for the onslaught of hate he would be receiving after the news went public. When Fallon asked him how he felt about the naysayers, Affleck proclaimed himself to be “a big boy” capable of dealing with anonymous haters on the internet, and a few chuckles soon followed. You can view the interview below.

There will be plenty of Affleck discussion to follow as production gets underway, but for now it’s nice to see Ben shaking off the haters. Personally, I think he’s going to bring a lot to Batman that we haven’t seen before, and as a fan himself I’m sure he’ll do whatever possible to stay true to the character. What do you think?
