Pusha T Streams “Nosetalgia” Featuring Kendrick Lamar

Hot damn.

G.O.O.D. Music member Pusha T continues to build excitement for his forthcoming solo album this morning with a new single featuring Compton native Kendrick Lamar. Titled “Nosetalgia,” the song pairs the emcees against street-thumping production for a walk down cocaine memory lane. It’s a collaboration made in rhyme heaven, and you can stream the track in full at the end of this post.

Pusha T has been delivering promotional singles off My Name Is My Name since April, and so far no two tracks have sounded alike. “Numbers On The Board” was a jarring effort that could only have stemmed from the mind of Kanye West. “Sweet Serenade,” on the other hand, was about as radio-friendly as modern day Pusha could possibly hope to be. “Nosetalgia” finds a place between these two tracks that is akin to the efforts delivered by Clipse on Lord Willin, but with lyrical perspective from someone much wiser. Pusha has finally come full circle with his efforts, and the result is one of his best singles to date.

If I ended this post without discussing the contributions of Kendrick “Control” Lamar I would be doing us all a disservice. Pusha uses his verse to recount the days he spent working away on the drug game, but Lamar has no such autobiographical tale to share. Instead, he offers a third person perspective on a family member caught in the hustle, and then dissects the mixed messages seeing someone succeed in drugs has on young people. It may not be Kendrick’s strongest verse, but it certainly reaffirms the fact he’s one of the best working today.

My Name Is My Name hits stores October 8. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on “Nosetalgia.”
