One of the most notable tracks on dubstep auteur James Blake‘s 2013 album Overgrown was “Take a Fall For Me,” on which RZA had a stunning, low-key feature. Blake has now gone from an established rapper to the up-and-comer of the moment, remixing “Life Round Here” and bringing on Chance the Rapper.
The hype surrounding Chance’s breakout album Acid Rap may very well edge upon the levels Blake himself experienced with his self-titled 2011 album. Given that shared status, the RZA track, and the cultish love out there for both – the venn diagram likely has a good amount of overlap – the cross-genre team-up makes a lot of sense. Chance’s off-the-hinge nature and Blake’s chilly detachment swirl together for a truly mind-bending verse. The end comes far too quickly.
Noisey premiered “Life Round Here.” They’ll be premiering the track’s music video as well.
