Required Listening: Justin Timberlake – “TKO”

Justin Timberlake‘s 20/20 Experience – Part 2 is fast-approaching, and this morning I awoke to find the album’s second single waiting to be shared with the world.

So far in 2013, Justin Timberlake has more or less stuck to his unique brand of larger-than-life instrumentation backing relatively simple pop songs with super catchy hooks. We haven’t complained one bit about this, as each single to surface has been more addicting than the last, but I would be lying if I wrote no one at UTG ever dreamed for a return to Future Sex days. If you’ve ever felt the same way, “TKO” is about to make your day.

Clocking in at just over seven minutes in length, “TKO” is not what you would call a conventional single choice, but its Timbaland-built production is so infectious I dare anyone to make it through the stream below without at least being compelled to tap their toes, if not start an entire office dance party. There is something about how the heavy bass and snare blends with JT’s signature voice that taps into the soul of every pop music fan when Timbaland is in the mix that simply cannot be denied. It’s a fact these two creative minds have proven again and again, and today they’re doing it once more with “TKO.” You can stream the song below.

If you ask me, “TKO” is far superior to “Take Back The Night,” but I think whether or not you agree will be determined largely by what era of Timberlake’s career you love the most. “Take Back The Night” played well with the material on 20/20 – Part 1, but there is something more…aggressive about this track that I cannot turn off. Do you agree? Comment below and let us know your thoughts.

The 20/20 Experience – Part 2 arrives in stores September 27.
