Against Me! To Release New Album Next Year

In a recent interview with Elle, Against Me! vocalist Laura Jane Grace confirmed that the group’s sixth studio album, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, will be released in early 2014. You can catch the singer’s quote in question below:

“Yes. It’s done. It’s mastered. We’re finishing artwork. It’s hard to keep in perspective that, “Okay, the time will go quick [before we release it].” There’s a part of me that’s just like, “Put it on the Internet now. Let’s go!” Because the recording process took so long, I feel like we’re those runners at the end of a marathon collapsing as they come across the finish line. Their legs are giving out underneath them, they’re vomiting everywhere, and they’re just wrecks.”

This will be the outfit’s first full-length release since 2010’s White Crosses, and also their first effort to feature Inge Johansson and Adam Willard, as both were only just added to the roster earlier this year. More noteworthy still is the fact that this will be the punk-rockers first new release since Laura Jane Grace (previously known as Tom Gabel) announced that she was a part of the transgender community and would be living the rest of her life as a woman. In this sense, the albums title and concept, which is said will center on a transgender prostitute, is made even more poignant.

If you’re as excited as we are for Transgender Dysphoria Blues and simply can’t wait, check out the quartet’s latest, True Trans, and check back in the future for more updates to this developing story.
