Jeff Daniels Thinks ‘Dumb And Dumber To’ Makers Have “Topped The Original”

Some comedies get great sequels – Austin Powers and Wayne’s World come to mind while others get washy second films – ironically, Dumb and Dumberer is an easy example. Dumb And Dumber To (the misspelling is intentional, because… well, the characters are dumb) will start filming this week, and feature both original stars in Jeff Daniels and Jim Carrey. In addition, the person who played blind Billy in 4C in the original will return as the same character; how the character feels towards the duo that sold him a headless bird is yet to be revealed. Jeff Daniels told E! reporters, “The scariest thing? There are some things that’s we’re going to do in Dumb and Dumber To that make the toilet scene [in the original] seem lame. Pales in comparison and I can’t divulge what, but just that they’ve topped it.”

The film is currently slated for a 2014 release; the twentieth anniversary of the original would be December 16, 2014. The writers and directors from the original, The Farrelly Brothers, wrote the movie and will direct, too. In a world where Zoolander 2 and Anchorman 2 are supposed to be things, I’m still looking forward to this most.
