Watch Beck Perform New Song “Wake Up”

On Tuesday night in Barstow, California, Beck took the stage for the first of two shows for “Station to Station,” multimedia artist Doug Aitken’s project. With his trademark hat on, Beck debuted a new song called “Wake Up.” There’s no word on whether the song is off either his upcoming album or acoustic album, but it sounds too good to be left as a live single. Our bet is that it will come out on the prior.

In true Beck fashion, the song features a good deal of acoustic guitar, plenty of tambourine, and a plodding, straight-forward bass line. Then, in Rolling Stones fashion, the song has an entire choir singing behind him. It’s pretty powerful. So put your hymn books down, stand up in your chair, and feel the force of 30+ voices join his for “Wake Up.” Who knows if this could be material get him a third album in Rolling Stone‘s “500 Greatest Albums of All Time” list.
