In a rather brave move, Scotland’s indie electronic trio CHVRCHES have covered one of the greatest anthems out there, Whitney Houston‘s “It’s Not Right But It’s Ok.” The sassy R&B track is for all the wronged lovers out there, and CHVRCHES’s cover loses a bit of its power in the process.
Their electro-pop sound is understated and treats the track to a good amount of excitement, livening it up quite well. While it doesn’t swamp the track with necessary blips or anything, but the anger that drives the song is lost when not sung by Houston herself.
Their debut full length album, The Bones Of What You Believe, is currently streaming if you want to hear them tackle their own songs. Similarly to their cover, it works understated electro-pop to their advantage and the vocals sweeten it all up.
