‘Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs 2’ Piles Above The Competition

Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs

After last week’s dip, this weekend saw a slight uptake in total studio revenue. Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs dethroned Prisoners with total studio estimates nearing 35 million in ticket sales. The animated film is the first to come since Dreamworks’ Planes flew into theaters back in early August, and is performing better than the edgier films which debuted this weekend. Joesph Gordon-Levitt’s directorial debut in Don Jon is currently running neck and neck against Baggage Claim, with estimated gross profits for both films coming out around nine million. Ron Howard’s motorsport themed action film Rush fared well this weekend, earning itself the bronze after falling behind Cloudy and Prisoners.

Our review of the surprisingly brilliant Don Jon can be found right here. Follow the jump to read the full listing of this weekend’s highest grossing films, as brought to you by Box Office Mojo.
