Full Trailer For ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ Has Arrived

Rejoice, nerds! Your beloved short friends will soon return to the big screen in another overly-long epic that is sure to dominate December’s box office, and this morning we have the full trailer to aide in raising your excitement.

The full trailer for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug has arrived online ahead of the film’s December 2013 release date. The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, that continues the adventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellen) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor. It’s as flashy, gorgeous, and digitally created as ever, and you can view the trailer at the end of this post.

I’ll admit to being a diehard fanboy of the original Lord Of The Rings trilogy Peter Jackson tackled in the mid-2000s, but something about The Hobbit adaptation series just doesn’t work for me. Still, it’s hard to deny the beauty shown in the following clip, even if I don’t plan on paying to see the full feature anytime soon.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug arrives in theaters December 13.
