Britney Spears Cracks A Whip In Official “Work Bitch” Video

The single we already started to forget is back with an official video that brings to mind the heyday of late-90s/early-2000s pop.

Around the time Britney Spears first burst onto the scene, a group you may have heard of by the name of Spice Girls were dominating the charts. Their infectious take on pop music kickstarted a worldwide craze that has long outlasted their career as a group, and one of the main causes of that fandom was their expertly crafted music videos. One of the most notable, “Say You’ll Be There,” took the girls to the middle of the desert for an unexplainable, but relatively cool-looking performance setup that appears to have inspired the latest clip from Ms. Britney Spears.

Bursting with perfectly lit performance sequences and enough sweat-covered flesh to rival the “Slave For You” clip, the official video for “Work Bitch” arrived online this morning. The track is the first to surface off Britney Spears’ upcoming album, and as we discussed in our single review it boasts deep-house influenced sound that has divided longtime listeners. The video matches the song’s club-ready feel with a slew of dance sequences in various setting, including the aforementioned desert scene, but overall doesn’t do much to further sell you on the overly simplistic song. You can view the video below.

There are those who like “Work Bitch,” but no matter how many times I try to give it a chance I cannot help feeling like it’s one of the laziest singles Britney Spears has ever released. The focus is on the music instead of her talent, which makes her essentially replaceable. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the “Work Bitch” video.
