When Childish Gambino debuted “Centipede” at the end of July most of the music community assumed an album or mixtape announcement would soon follow. Weeks passed without word, then Gambino teased and released his short film Clapping For The Wrong Reasons. Again, people assumed an album announcement would follow, but again – nothing.
Then not too long ago, things changed. Taking to Twitter for a rare news update, Childish – aka Donald Glover – revealed to fans he has finished the follow-up to 2011’s Camp. No title or release date was mentioned or even hinted at, but we assume more information will follow in the coming weeks. November is when Camp first arrived, so maybe that will be the lucky month once more. Again, nothing is confirmed at this time.
One thing we know for sure, however, is that Childish Gambino has already begun sharing his latest efforts with the world. While performing at Penn State recently he debuted an as-of-yet unreleased song said to be from the aforementioned new album. You can view a video of the performance below.
We’re on pins and needles awaiting more details on Gambino’s next move. Follow UTG on Twitter to ensure you never miss another headline.
