Indie pop group Los Campesinos! are returning with their fifth album this year and it’s looking to be a complete turn from their last one, Hello Sadness. To be fair, with a title like No Blues, maybe they were just cutting to the chase. They shared “What Death Leaves Behind” a month ago (which you can download for free here) and now have uploaded a very poppy “Avacado, Baby” to their Soundcloud as well. “Avocado, Baby” is as different from Hello Sadness as you could imagine. Pulsing with a Cold War Kids-esque guitar line and yelling vocals, the song gets a lift on both sides from poppy melodies and some backing vocals from the Cardiff Cougar Allstars cheer squad. There’s some lingering sadness in there, but it sounds like the band are approaching their new material with a grin and confident stance this time around.
