As we reported when the Chance the Rapper-featuring remix of James Blake‘s Life Round Here” first premiered on Noisey almost a month ago, the site has now also premiered the cut’s video. Directed by Nabil, the black-and-white video follows the two on their journey through the English countryside.
Nabil, as quoted by Noisey from their behind-the-scenes video: “I love juxtapositions… so I thought I’d bring an old school lowrider to the countryside in England, and bring the two together in a way that makes people question things.”
He chose a good track to showcase that love. “Life Round Here” already provides a good dose of that as it weaves together Blake’s hazy production and Chance’s outstanding, manic verse. Nabil simply enhances it – a lot – by removing all the color and adding Somalian pirates and a number of other characters.
