Sandra Bullock Performs Sugarhill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight’

Sandra Bullock has been hitting the press trail hard in recent weeks to promote the smash hit Gravity. She has appeared in every publication stateside, as well as most day and late night talk shows, and now that the film is beginning to hit foreign markets she has been forced to take her promotional efforts elsewhere. Recently, that included a stop on The Jonathan Ross Show in the UK, and that’s when things got weird.

While speaking with Ross to promote her new film, Bullock revealed that one way she killed time during the production of Gravity was to recite lyrics with co-star George Clooney from a song they both loved in high school. This, unbeknownst to the audience, was Ross’ cue to bring up Sugarhill Gang’s “Rapper’s Delight,” which Bullock recited from memory a few moments later. You can view video of the ‘performance’ below.

“I liked this guy in high school, and I was like, ‘Next time I go to that dance, I’m going to know every word, and I’ll make sure he sees me lip-syncing it,” the 49-year-old actress told host Jonathan Ross. “‘And I’m going to catch his eye, and I’m gonna say the words, and he’s going to like me.’ And sadly, it worked.”

Gravity is out now in the states and will continue to roll out in international markets throughout October. If you get a chance to see it, we highly recommend doing so as soon as time and money allows.
