The ‘Hot Wheels’ Live Action Movie Speeds Forward With New Director

Apparently this Hot Wheels movie has been in the works since 2009 when McG was set to direct. Now it appears the reins have been passed on to Simon Crane. Not only is there a new director, but a new writer as well.

Yes, there’s going to be a movie based on those little car toys. Will it have those huge loops that caused many parents headaches trying to assemble? Let’s hope so, but if there’s anyone who could make it happen, it’s Crane. He’s earned his cred coordinating stunts for everything from World War Z to the upcoming Angelina Jolie movie, Maleficent.

As for the writing, it looks like Paul Attanasio’s (House, Donnie Brasco) going to be rewriting Iron Man’s Art Marcum and Matt Holloway’s original script.

Are you excited for this? It’s always a tossup with these movies based on childhood favorites. Battleship sunk while The Lego Movie looks amazing. Where will this Hot Wheels one end up, only time will tell.
