Yeasayer find themselves deep in the medical science realm in the new video for “Glass of the Microscope,” the final track of 2012’s Fragrant World. Looking through microscopes, staring down patients’ throats, and strolling down aisles of various jarred things, our doctors are quite soulful in their approach. Their bedside manner – while not fleshed out here, for these are scientists – must be fantastic.

To the surprise of no one, not even the uninitiated, the video only gets weirder from there. As that truly fantastic chorus takes over, 3D graphics of vaguely acceptable quality appear, dancers take over the hospital’s hallway, and someone swims through… something microscopic, I guess. It’s mysterious and sparkly, two things that are fully acceptable in the making of trippy music videos. The visuals support that chorus, though, and that’s all that’s really needed of the lab coat-toting video.
