Snoop Dogg Changes His Name (Again), Announces New Album

Snoop Dogg became Snoop Lion not too long ago, and within a few weeks of attempting to make the identity stick most press outlets went back to calling him Snoop D-O-double-G once more. Now, on the same day as his new album announcement, the iconic Snoop has once again requested media and fans refer to him by a new, previously unknown name.

According to Rolling Stone, Snoop Dogg has rebraned himself Snoopzilla for his new project 7 Days Of Funk, which is a collaborative effort with groove singer Dam-Funk. The duo released the album’s first official single, “Faden Away,” today on iTunes and are set to release an album, also titled 7 Days of Funk, on December 10 on Stones Throw Records. You can stream the single at the end of this post.

“We’re the babies of the Mothership,” Snoopzilla said in a statement. “I’ve had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dam-Funk is cold. He’s keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him.”

Do you think Snoopzilla is a name that will stick? Comment below and let us know your thoughts.
