Tyler, the Creator Disses YouTube Music Awards… Which He’s Performing At

Odd Future frontman Tyler, the Creator has taken to Twitter to yell a surprisingly thoughtful diss (in its overall meaning) about the first ever YouTube Music Awards. While it may seem hypocritical seeing he is set to perform at the awards, his gripe is actually directed at himself in a sense, since he’s angry artists–not directors–are the ones getting credit for the videos. Read his full tweet below:

“YOUTUBE AWARDS COULDVE FUCKING HAD NOMINATIONS ON COOL CREATIVE VIDEOS SHIT BUT NOOOO AGAIN ITS THE MOST TEENY BOPPER POP SHIT. YOU ARE BUTT… WHY NOT GIVE AWARDS TO JUST DIRECTORS, THESE FUCKING WEAK ASS ARTIST DONT COME UP WITH THESE SHOTS OR SIT IN COLORING FUCK THEM THEY SUCK… AT LEAST TORO GOT A NOM THATS SICK… EARL AND I HAVE TO PERFORM THERE NEXT WEEK HAHAHAHAHA”

The YouTube Music Awards are set to air live from New York City on November 3 with Jason Schwartzman and Reggie Watts hosting and Spike Jonze as the creative director. Expect live performances from Tyler and Earl Sweatshirt as well as Lady Gaga, M.I.A., Arcade Fire, Avicii, Walk off the Earth, and Eminem. We’re not sure what Tyler will be performing there, but if it’s anything like his recent “Tamale” video, then it’ll be something to talk about (as usual). See the full list of nominees here and watch a trailer for the awards below.
