Warpaint Announce New Album, Stream New Song

It’s a good week for indie rock bands on three-year album cycles, with Arcade Fire releasing Reflektor, their first full-length since 2010’s The Suburbs, and Young the Giant announcing the follow-up to their 2010 debut. Now, Warpaint are joining the club. The Los Angeles, CA band will release their self-titled sophomore album on January 21, 2014.

Warpaint will be their first release since their acclaimed 2010 debut, The Fool. The first single from the album, “Love Is To Die,” can be streamed after the break. It manages to be both atmospheric and groovy at the same time, setting the stage for a haunting melody courtesy of vocalist Emily Kokal.

In addition to the new single, the band has posted the teaser trailer (which you can also stream after the break) for Love Is To Die, a documentary about the making of Warpaint. Director Chris Cunningham accompanied the band on the two-year process of writing and recording the album, filming and photographing every stage of the production, and, to top it off, he remixed songs from the record for the film’s soundtrack.
