‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel Will Take Place In London, Original Cast Returning

First of all, this movie gets a sequel? Really? Between this and White House Down I would have put all my money on the latter being considered for a sequel long before this one got off the ground again.

A sequel to the Gerard Butler lead action feature Olympus Has Fallen has been announced and its name tells you almost everything you need to know.

London Has Fallen will center on Secret Service Agent Mike Banning’s (Butler) attempts to foil a terrorist plot at the London funeral of the British Prime Minister with the help of U.S. President Benjamin Asher (Aaron Eckhart) and an English MI6 operative. It’s slated to begin shooting on May 5 in the U.K. capital, with producers currently on the search for a replacement for original director Antoine Fuqua. Original screenwriters Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger will pen the script.

In addition to the return of stars Butler and Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell have also signed on to reprise their roles. No word yet on who will play the MI6 operative, but I think it’s safe to assume another big name star will be announced for the slot in the months ahead.

Olympus Has Fallen divided audiences, but eventually earned $160 million on an estimated budget of $70 million. Comment below and let us know if you’re interested in another Mike Banning adventure.
