Dwayne Johnson To Star In ‘Seal Team 666’, Due Out Summer 2014

Earlier today, it was announced that Dwayne Johnson will star in MGM’s upcoming action film Seal Team 666, which is currently set to hit theatres nationwide July 25, 2014.

Johnson, who is currently hard at work shooting Fast & Furious 7, will additionally executive produce the film with the aid of Dany Garcia, and Macmillian Film’s Brendan Deneen and Peter Joseph. So far, there has been no word on who will direct the production, which is still in the developmental stages.

Evan Spiliotopoulous, the man responsible for writing MGM’s Hercules, which also stars Johnson and is slated for a summer 2014 release, penned the screenplay based off the book by Weston Ochse. Like the text, the film will follow a group of Navy Seals who take on a hoard of otherworldly threats, and soon discover that their greatest enemy is not a savage militant group or far off foreign power, but rather a dark, supernatural force which defies explanation and reasoning. Sounds pretty gnarly, if you ask me.

You can bet that UTG will keep you updated as more actors are added to the lineup, but in the meantime, comment below and let us know what you think of Johnson’s most recent role selection.
