Watch Frank Turner Cover Joni Mitchell’s “River”

Frank Turner’s an adventurous man when it comes to covers, claiming to learn a new one for every city he and his band travel through on tour – or at least he tries. This time around he sat down for a Folk-O-Rama session in Columbia, MO to take on Joni Mitchell’s “River.”

The folk/punk singer says each cover is relevant to the city he’s playing and while in Saskatoon, Canada he tried to learn the Mitchell song since that’s where she hails from. He’s currently on doctor’s orders not to touch a guitar but strapped one on anyway – I think his back will be okay, he was sitting the entire time.

Right now Turner is on tour with Smith Street Band and Koo Koo Kanga Roo through the end of November. When that wraps up he’ll hit the road with July Talk and Billy The Kid in Canada. Perhaps “River” will make it on the setlist by then? He’s even got dates well into 2014 with plans to head home to the UK with Flogging Molly and Beans on Toast.
