Alanis Morissette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’ Is Heading To Broadway

Almost 20 years after its release, Alanis Morissette’s Jagged Little Pilll is getting the Broadway treatment next year as a workshop production.

Before we move on, because I had to look this up myself – a workshop production is a simpler performance that may not have all the elaborate sets and costumes of a full on production. That’s okay, because Alanis’ music will make up for whatever the stage show lacks.

Who else could they trust to pull this off though other than Tony winner Tom Kitt? He worked on Green Day’s American Idiot musical and is excited to take on one of the best albums of the ‘90s. Not as excited as Morissette who said, “I look forward to taking the heart of Jagged Little Pill and expanding its story, fleshing it out into ever deeper layers of emotionality, specificity, humanity, power, physicality, spirit and fabulism.”

Jagged Little Pill may’ve been Morissette’s third record but it was the one that made her a world renowned artist. It’s sold over 33 million copies to date, was obviously a number one record on the charts, and earned her a Grammy for Album of the Year.

In case you’re unaware of that record’s greatness, let’s take a walk down memory lane and remember that Uncle Joey from Full House wasn’t the best boyfriend.
