Body Count Announce New Album for 2014

It was announced nearly a year ago that Ice-T’s legendary rap metal band Body Count had signed with Sumerian Records and a new record was on the way, fueling rumors that the band would co-headline the 2013 Summer Slaughter tour alongside fellow recent Sumerian signees The Dillinger Escape Plan. Well, that never came to fruition and Body Count finally made their triumphant return to the stage last weekend, playing their first show in years at Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, TX. But more on Fun Fun Fun later this week (that, my friends, is what they call a teaser).

The band is best known tackling police brutality with their controversial 1992 single “Cop Killer” and setting the stage for the late-90s rap metal explosion that spawned the likes of Korn and Limp Bizkit. Ice-T announced on Twitter following the band’s performance that a new album called Manslaughter is indeed in the works for 2014.

Based on what I saw on Saturday night, we can only hope a full tour is in the works as well. We recently participated in a press conference where we asked Ice-T about the band, and it sounds like a European tour is the first priority. You can check out that video right here and read Ice-T’s rather enthusiastic tweet after the jump.
