There’s something undeniable about the way Dan “Soupy” Campbell, vocalist of The Wonder Years, sings the line “I’m sorry I don’t laugh at the right times” on the band’s fourth full-length, The Greatest Generation. It’s a personal confession and a rallying cry at the same time, which is exactly the formula on which the Philadelphia pop punk band has built their career.
With that in mind, it’s no surprise at all that The Wonder Years have chosen the song to receive the music video treatment. The clip, which you can view after the break or along with this neat little Buzzfeed article, is a visually striking visual companion to another lyric in the song, “I’ve got my heart strung up on clothing line.”
The boundless energy of The Wonder Years’ live show is on display here as well, which is even more impressive when you realize they’re playing in an empty warehouse. It just makes the prospect of the song making its way into live sets all the more exciting.
