Ian Curtis’ Kitchen Table Sells For $13k

The kitchen table belonging to the late Joy Division frontman has sold for over $13,000 on eBay.

The table is notable not just because it belonged to Curtis, but also because it was mere feet from him when he took his life in May 1980.

The eBay listing says that the seller is supplying the wooden table along with various items of documentation.

Former Joy Division members, as well as Curtis’ family, have condemned the sale of the item.

The former band has made a statement to NME regarding the table:

“Joy Division original members Bernard Sumner and Stephen Morris would like to lend their voice of support to Deborah and Natalie Curtis, who have been caused great distress over media reporting of the sale of the table originally owned by the family, and currently being auctioned on eBay.”
