Tyler Carter Of Issues Posts Statement About Fan Rudeness At Show

One thing that I’ve noticed people do to musicians is rip off their clothes when they get in the crowd. I get the idea as to why someone would feel inclined to take something from someone they admire, but do those people think that it might upset that musician? Well in the instance of Issues frontman, Tyler Carter, having his shirt ripped off him made him upset.

Carter posted a statement indicating at the band’s show, he broke a venue rule and got in the crowd to sing with fans. When he did so, someone apparently grabbed his shirt. Even though he says he asked them to stop, they ended up tearing his shirt off of him. He says that was a very disrespectful action by the fan, and wrote a short blog post about it. You can read what he had to say by taking a look below.

Shit like that makes me not want to go in the crowd anymore. I completely disobeyed security by calling crowd surfing and going down to the barricade, my band could lose getting paid for that. But something you need to know is that I come down there to hold your hands and sing along with you, to interact. I don’t go down there to have my fucking clothes ripped off. How disrespectful. One person, after I looked at you and into the mic said don’t do that, gave me no choice but to go back up. Twice I said please stop then they still ripped off my shirt. This isn’t a damn punk nazi deathcore show. Have some decency, I’m all about craziness and rock, but I went against the rules to interact and someone ruined it for everyone. I’m sorry for bitching but there are some things that are priceless, and you ripped one of them off my chest. Thanks. >:(

Don’t take their clothes away from them, do the responsible thing for the sake of music and take their instruments.

Just playing Devil’s advocate here, but perhaps that t-shirt had sentimental value to the guy? Just saying.

I agree that it’s possible the shirt was sentimental to him. Fans have to business yanking off musician’s clothing.

I understand that fans feel the urge to take stuff from musicians for the sake of “remembering” them or whatever the reasons. I think it’s disrespectful to pull someone’s shirt off them after the artist asks the fan to stop. Or any article of clothing for that matter. I saw a fan rip a necklace off Ronnie Radke once (when I liked him, and he was in Escape The Fate, which was obviously ages ago).

Sorry but if its that sentimental then don’t wear it. Common sense. You dive into the crowd of your own volition expect the unexpected and quit your whining. Sidenote that bears no relevance to the conversation but I feel the need to mention this band blows as does anything Ronnie Radke has ever touched.

It’s definitely not okay. I saw Emery many years ago. They were wearing some kind of biohazard suits. Their keyboardist jumped into the crowd and by the time he had made it back on stage, the suit was ripped to shreds. He didn’t seem to care but some people obviously do. With that being said, if it’s something of sentimental value, you obviously shouldn’t wear it to a concert, whether you’re in the crowd or on stage. He should have known better being a musician in heavier genres. The crowds are crazy and unfortunately, politely asking them to stop isn’t gonna to do shit. Maybe he should have thrown mic stands at them. It’s not like this happens every time a musician steps into the crowd but it happens. It comes with the territory.

Or spit on them. I agree that you shouldn’t wear your valuable or sentimental possessions to a show but should it really have to be that way? Instead of proudly wearing something that means something to you you have to hide it because people are assholes?? It sucks but you’re definitely right.
