Green Day To “Take A Break” Following Spring Australian Tour

In a recent interview with BBC, Billie Joe Armstrong, the lead vocalist of Green Day, said that the group will be taking a hiatus for an unspecified amount of time following their upcoming Australian tour, which is set to run throughout February and into March.

“We’re going to Australia, doing a tour there, and then we’re going to take a break,” Armstrong said. “We haven’t really been doing much. So it’s just nice to kind of do some other things, y’know, when we get ready to do Green Day again, our batteries will be charged.”

The trio has been on the road for most of the last year, supporting their album trilogy іUno!, іDos!, іTŕe!, which was released systematically last fall. More recently, Armstrong joined forces with Norah Jones to create Foreverly, a country-western gem which can be streamed in full here.

From all indications, this certainly won’t be the last we hear of Green Day, who have now been together for nearly a quarter of a century. For the latest updates on these punk-rock trendsetters, be sure to check back regularly.
