Pop phenomenon Alicia Keys launched a new website this week dubbed the ‘AK Vault.’ The site, which we expect will be updated on a semi-regular basis, is the new online destination for fans seeking rare recordings from Keys. Her first release, a cover of PM Dawn’s “I’d Die Without You,” can be streamed at the end of this post.
Recorded in 2007, Keys’ take on “I’d Die Without You” offers a heartfelt new take on PM Dawn’s classic love song. In signature Keys’ form, the updated version is piano-led and ever-so-slightly restructured for a more modern sound. I don’t know that it’s any better, but it’s certainly not any worse.
When “I’d Die Without You” was originally released in 1992 it spent sixteen weeks on the Billboard charts, peaking at number three. It also appeared in the film Boomerang, which is remembered more for its soundtrack than its plot. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the cover.
