When you come across a band that has 11 members, you can expect their sound to either be incredibly unique and refreshing or reminiscent of 11 children throwing instruments against an aluminum wall. Luckily for Portland, Oregon’s Typhoon, it’s very much the former. White Lighter is hands down one of 2013’s best releases and the band’s new single off the album, “Young Fathers,” is one of the year’s stand-out tracks.
Premiering over at MTVu, the visual accompaniment for the single is strange to say the least, but it’s also one of the most enthralling music videos we’ve encountered this year. Check out the video after the jump to follow a young boy and his spirit animal leader (rumored to be Stelth Ulvang of The Lumineers) on an almost creepy quest through woods and hills. Also be sure to check back here at UTG in the next week because Typhoon may just very well show up on some end of the year lists.
