St. Vincent Announces Self-Titled Album, Download Single “Birth in Reverse”

After working with David Byrne on last year’s Love This Giant, St. Vincent has announced she will be putting out a new album in February of 2014. The self-titled album will be her fourth record under the name. You can hear “Birth in Reverse” off the album (or download it in exchange for an email address) below.

St. Vincent will be her first new solo material since 2011’s excellent Strange Mercy and features Dap-Kings’ drummer Homer Steinweiss, Midlake’s McKenzie Smith on percussion, and was produced by John Congleton. It comes out officially on February 24 in the UK and February 25 in the U.S. via new label Loma Vista.

“I wanted to make a party record you could play at a funeral,” said Annie Clark in a press release. With an opening line like “Oh what an ordinary day / Take out the garbage, masturbate” on “Birth in Reverse,” I think she’s nailed that sound.
