The man in black may no longer walk this earth, but in a few short months material that has waited decades for release will finally arrive on shelves worldwide.
Billboard is reporting that a new album containing never before released material from Johnny Cash will be released in Spring 2014. The album, titled Out Among The Stars, contains material recorded with Billy Sherrill in the early 1980s that was never released by Columbia Records. When Cash was dropped in 1986, he took the master tapes with him, and not too long ago his surviving son found them amongst his possessions.
“They never threw anything away,” said their son, John Carter Cash. “They kept everything in their lives. They had an archive that had everything in it from the original audio tapes from `The Johnny Cash Show’ to random things like a camel saddle, a gift from the prince of Saudi Arabia.”

Out Among The Stars is currently scheduled for a March 25 release. Considering the fact Johnny would have been 80 next year, it’s likely a flood of reissues/remasters/etc. will come to light in the months ahead. Stay tuned for more information.
