This year saw a flood of new bands riding on their own wave of success. From HAIM to Lorde, artists were blowing up, and Chvrches were at the forefront of that explosion from the beginning. The Scottish synth-pop trio have shown up on late-night TV and venues worldwide throughout the year,  but perhaps my favorite time seeing them pop up in the news is when they’re performing a cover.

Chvrches stopped by BBC Radio 1’s Live Lounge to cover the 1994 hit “Stay Another Day” from Britain’s boy band East 17. Things get slow and dark in their rendition, making for an interesting take of the song. Not sure why, but one of the first things I thought of when hearing it was its similarity to a few tracks off the old Halo soundtrack. This means East 17 can now join Whitney Houston, HAIM, and Game Of Thrones in being artists (or TV shows in the case of the latter) that the trio has covered.
