Having spent the past few months on tour, T. Mills surprised fans worldwide this morning with the release of a new track titled “Coldest Winter.”

Debuting online just in time for the holidays, “Coldest Winter” pairs T. Mills with up and coming crooner Blackbear for a tale about love on the rocks during the coldest time of year. Travis talks about what he remembers about the girl who got away, admits mistakes, and then makes a simple holiday wish to be with his love once more. You can stream and download “Coldest Winter,” for free, at the end of this post.

The evolution of T. Mills has been a curious one, and I think “Coldest Winter” is further proof the best is still to come. A hip-hop Christmas track is a difficult feat to accomplish, but here Travis and Blackbear deliver a smooth jam without an ounce of irony or schmaltz to be found. If this is the sound he’s hoping to feature on his next album, I think 2014 may quickly become the year of T. Mills. Comment below and let us know your thoughts on the track.
