Ian Watkins Sentenced To 35 Years For Child Sex Offenses

Following his arrest in December 2012, former Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins has been given a 35 year sentence after pleading guilty in November 2013 to a number of child sex offenses, including attempted rape of a child under the age of 13.

Watkins, 36, appeared in court Wednesday. The courtroom heard that he was “deeply deeply sorry” and “belatedly realised the gravity of what happened,” according to the BBC. He will serve 29 years in prison.

We have dedicated an incredible amount of digital space to covering this trial in 2013, and though we know this sentencing will not please everyone we hope we can all begin to move forward and stop focusing on the depraved acts of Ian Watkins. Knowing how celebrity tends to work these days we wouldn’t be surprised if he one day attempted to put out his side of the story, via memoir or otherwise, but to be perfectly honest we would be happy if we never had to mention his name again.
