See the First Poster for ‘The Fault In Our Stars’

After receiving nothing but high praise for his 2012 children’s book The Fault In Our Stars, John Green will see his best-selling book about two kids with cancer who fall in love take on the big screen in June of 2014. Adults and critics couldn’t speak more highly of the novel, despite it being written for teens, and now Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort will be starring in the film version.

The poster for the film has just been shared. It’s hard not to feel some sort of emotion looking at Woodley and Elgort curled up on the grass. The tagline on the poster, “One sick love story,” trivializes their sicknesses a bit, but then again why not play up the cinematic oogling that is any movie? Green, however, took to Tumblr to shares his thoughts on the tagline (which he did not write):

I did not write the tagline.…These things are not my decision. It’s not my movie, or my poster.…That said, I like the tag line.…I mostly wanted something that said, “This is hopefully not going to be a gauzy, sentimental love story that romanticizes illness and further spreads the lie that the only reason sick people exist is so that healthy people can learn lessons.” But that’s not a very good tag line. I like the tag line because it says, literally, the sick can also have love stories. Love and joy and romance are not just things reserved for the well.
That said, I might be wrong. I’m wrong all the time.
